01

The starting problem

Everyday mobile journeys connected to web and operational systems. The same process does not work identically in every organization. We start by reviewing user roles, information flow and existing tools.

02

The components

Accounts and secure sessions; Notification preferences; Device and network error states. These components need a shared data source and clear responsibility boundaries. Interface and business rules are checked against the same scenarios.

03

An application built around a recurring need

A mobile app should not simply redraw every page of a website. We look for a recurring reason to return: order tracking, personal content, appointment information, live status or community participation. The first release is shaped around that need.

When web and mobile share customers or products, we prefer a single management source. API ownership and behaviour across devices must be clear. Declining notifications should not remove essential functionality, and an expired session should provide an understandable route back in.

For a store app, one journey might connect a campaign, product detail and order status. Instead of adding every feature, we complete its account, connectivity and failure states. Testing covers weak connectivity, returning from the background, empty lists and physical devices. Content ownership and responsibility for future releases are explicit delivery decisions.

04

First-release focus

Completing a frequent journey end to end is more valuable than many half-finished features. We first define entry, permissions, records, editing and error behaviour. Subsequent releases follow observed needs.

05

How we proceed

Discovery establishes existing data, integration access, content owners and success criteria. The data model, visual experience and acceptance checks then follow the same plan. A similar portfolio item is a starting point, not a substitute for defining your scope.
